Debbie Bayer, M.A., MFTi, C.Ht.
M.A. in Psychology, Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, Trained Spiritual Coach
I have a Masters Degree in Psychology and over 12 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with clients and their families in the treatment of anxiety, depression, bi-polar, eating disorders, addiction and ptsd. While my work as a psychotherapist is rewarding, I find the process of traditional therapy to be limiting and even less effective in some instances than spiritual and coaching work.
I trained as a Spiritual Coach with Diane Long, Board Certified Coach, Coaching Instructor, author and psychotherapist, and I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
I have been studying and practicing spirituality and world religions for over 30 years. I am especially knowledgeable in the teachings of Caroline Myss, Thich Nhat Hahn, Byron Katie, Dr. Brian Weiss, Dr. David Hawkins, Richard Rudd, Dr. Hew Len, Barbara Mary Muhl, Joel Goldsmith, as well as the Judeo-Christian traditions, from Orthodox Judaism to Roman Catholicism.
I practice meditation, mindfulness and prayer from other world religions. And I use spiritual cards and give readings when appropriate. Finally, as a result of continued meditation over the years I occasionally (but not predictably) receive messages from loved ones who have passed on. ( I do not charge for mediumship as part of my services.)
"The more you try and avoid suffering, the more you suffer, because smaller and more insignificant thing begin to torture you, in proportion to your fear of being hurt. The one who does most to avoid suffering, in the end, is the one who suffers most." Fr. Thomas Merton
Father Thomas Merton, a Catholic American Mystic, is pointing out the siamese twins of suffering: fear and avoidance. Look at anywhere you are stuck or unhappy in your life and you will find them. Fear and avoidance are natural human responses, but we don't always utilize them appropriately. Personal Coaching and Spiritual Counseling can help you contain the "twins."
"I didn't know what to expect, but Debbie was comforting and we really connected on some good points like how to handle unbalanced people around me and the connection with my loved one James (who had passed away) really comforted me. Thank you, Deborah I really needed the confirmation. You were a great help Sunday and I wish to do more work with you. You helped me more than my Kaiser therapist."
"I began seeing Debbie about my life's problems about a year ago. Since that time she has helped me find fulfilling employment and increased my potential by helping me re-enter college. She is always responsive to questions and tries to help you with encouragement and fresh ideas. The experience has been illuminating for me. I really recommend her as a great Life Coach."
"I had a wonderful experience working with Debbie. She was terrific at providing me with support in my decision making and helping me work through my issues. She genuinely cared about my perspective but also challenged my assumptions in order to give me the best chance at success in the future. She is very compassionate and that shines through her teaching ability. I would recommend her to anyone seeking a personal coach."
